The Event was originallly created for a street-roaming micro- theatre held by The Performance Group, designed as a small touring performance aimed at children.
I designed and crafted a puppet interpretation of Puck, the mischievous fairy from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. My goal was to translate Puck’s playful and magical qualities into a visual and kinetic puppet character that could support both narrative clarity and expressive physical performance.
I envisioned Puck as a mischievous forest fairy which is a light, playful character wrapped in vines, petals, and delicate wings to emphasize his constant motion and spirited nature. Because I see Puck as someone who is always darting through the forest, flying, running, and slipping in and out of sight. The costume design intentionally leans toward a light, airy aesthetic that supports quick, lively movement.
The tour was later put on hold, but the design work continued to inform my approach to puppetry for street-based, audience-engaged performances.
