Synopsis
City Being Erased is a dark metaphor for the gig economy, gentrification, and the quiet violence of being displaced.
In a city that never stops moving, two women navigate streets, ruins, and an underground world as memories around them fade.
While the city accelerates forward, they struggle to hold onto the fragments that still matter.
Design
The set is composed of modular cubes and drawers that together form a fragmented city skyline. The design aims to suggest a city that is constantly being built, erased, and reconstructed, represents the characters’ memories and emotional states.
Given the small venue and limited budget, flexibility became the core principle of the design. Each block can be rearranged to create new spatial compositions, allowing smooth transitions between different locations and emotional tones. The shifting structures echo the instability of memory and identity within the play.
