Howl’s Moving Castle
The Witch of the Waste
2022
Rooted in costume design, this project explores how garment construction and material choices convey character.
The corset, my first completed piece, provided an opportunity to investigate structural techniques, tailoring precision, and silhouette definition, establishing the character’s presence through wearable form. The skirt was reconstructed from a white shirt and fabric remnants, embraces sustainable design principles, layering texture and movement to reflect vulnerability and solitude, while maintaining a distinct aesthetic.
The short film presents the costume in motion, capturing the Witch’s vulnerability and solitude, translating character psychology into wearable art.
